Welcome to Frome valley Osteopaths (FVO)

Welcome to our new blog…

Our website is still very much up and running at http://www.fromevalleyosteopaths.co.uk, the blog is here to create something more flexible, where we can write to stay in touch and respond to the needs or queries etc that arise in clinic. We can also share book recommendations, meditation recommendations, exercise info and recipe ideas, with whatever other pearls of wisdom we come across, or you guys bring into clinic. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes, I hope you’ll join me for the ride.

For anyone new here, I will start by introducing our lovely clinic and team. Frome valley Osteopaths based in Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire, was set up in 2007 by our wonderful friend and mentor Felicity Booty. I (Lauren) started working here, fresh out of university in 2010. The clinic was then and will likely continue to be, more focused on a gentle, full person, multi layered approach to our patients. In 2015 Felicity moved out of the area with her family and I took over, it is one of my greatest joys to witness people becoming more themselves and to know that the support they receive in our clinic is a part of that.

I am 35, a dog mum, movement lover, yoga fan, cold water swimming (in a wetsuit) convert, deep feeling, LGBTQ, writer…. ?, Osteopath. I love exploring what’s going on for people and supporting them to reduce pain and discomfort for themselves, helping them regain trust in their bodies, often improving their relationship with their whole selves. I love the science and the magic in osteopathy and I love to be attuned to, and work with, people and their health.

Siân has been with us since 2017 and we wouldn’t be without her, Siân is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. She is gentle and non judgemental and has a way of making people feel safe and relaxed. She is a wonderful Osteopath who is always in tune with her patients and their bodies, whether she is gently articulating a lower back or holding their pelvis for a more cranial approach. Siân has a lot of experience with children and loves to see little ones in the clinic. Siân likes wild camping, being outdoors, hiking, cold water dipping (without a wetsuit) and working with patients at FVO 🙂

Becca joined us in 2022 and both Siân and I couldn’t be happier she’s on the team. Becca has fit in like an old friend 🙂 Becca is calm and considered, accepting, and is easy to laugh. Becca is blending her experience of articulation and soft tissue work with her keen and fast learning of the cranial field and all its more gentle applications. Becca has started studying at the Osteopathic centre for children and has a particular interest in paediatrics. Becca likes, climbing, cycling, surfing and running, anything outdoors! 🙂

As with any profession involved in helping someone feel better, relationship is important, we aim to help patients feel seen, heard and understood in the layers of their reason for coming to clinic and in the many different ways people are supported to feel better.

I hope you’ll come along for the ride, please feel free to bring in any ideas you have for things you want to hear more about or if you’d like to guest write on the blog for us with your expertise. As always I welcome a collaborative space and ideas or contributions are very welcome and encouraged! x
